Have you ever taken a young child on a walk? If you have, you are quickly aware that your goals are different.
A young child’s goal is to experience the walk not complete the walk.
On a walk, a child moves toward observation, stopping to look at rocks, elaborate detours, and leaf peeling. They do not struggle with patience, they are experiencing.
Perhaps you could approach your rumination like a child, an invitation to slow down and change the goal. What if the goal was to experience it and observe it, not just make it through.
