Even after you find a partner you love, someone who cares about you, and shows up for you, there are still limits to what a healthy relationship can provide.
Too much pressure on your relationship, to be all things to you—to be your sole sense of connection, validation, and understanding—brings consistent disappointment. Further, this sole dependence on any one person, is much too high of an expectation. For healthier relationships, you must ease the pressure you set on the humans you love.
My name is Brooke, I currently practice in the Raleigh area as a counselor for individuals, couples, and families recovering from addiction.
Most of my writing comes from morning coffee reflection or a long run.
As a disclaimer, my writing is one perspective.
