Hesitate

There can be a lot of pressure to respond agreeably when something is asked of you. Simplify by hesitating in you responses—what you agree to, what you say yes or no to.

Give yourself the gift of time. Respond to requests with:

Can you give me (an hour, day, week) to think about it and get back to you?

A response like this is seventeen types of reasonable. When you are asked to do something, you get to take a minute to truly decide if you are yes or if you are a no. If this yes moves you closer to your values, or further away.
